What is a pool route?

A pool route is a weekly worksheet listing the stops one technician services on one service day, in the order they drive. In PoolPuma a route belongs to one person and one weekday, and each stop points to a body of water and sets its position in the sequence, mirroring the paper route sheet many companies still use.

A pool route is the recurring list of stops a technician works on a given day of the week. Monday’s route, Tuesday’s route, and so on. It is the digital version of the route sheet or spreadsheet many pool companies have maintained for years: who services which pools, and in what order.

In PoolPuma, a route belongs to one active user and one service day. The assigned person can be an owner, a manager, or a pool operator, because a small company might have one person doing office work and field work both. When the same technician needs more than one version for the same day, a short label separates them, so “Tuesday North” and “Tuesday South” can live side by side.

A route is made of route stops. Each stop does two things and only two things: it points to a specific body of water, and it sets that stop’s position in the driving order. Route stops deliberately do not carry access instructions or recurring service notes. Access instructions belong to the property, because they describe how to get into a location. Service notes belong to the body of water, because they describe the asset being maintained. Keeping that information on the property and the pool means it stays correct no matter how many routes a stop appears on.

A route is a reusable template, not a single day’s work. The day-specific version, called a route run, is created from your active routes and schedules when you dispatch. That separation lets you plan the week once and keep the route sheet stable while daily changes, like a skip or a reschedule, happen on the run without rewriting the underlying route.
